Keeper of the GatePosted by Mike Cash (Kiryu, Japan) on 12 March 2007 in Transportation and Portfolio. A security guard at Evergreen Shipping on Tokyo's Aomi Wharf closes the gate separating those of us in line from the check-in lanes. Most container yards shut down check-in from 11:30 - 13:00. Seeing the gate slide shut means you just had at least 90 minutes added to your work day. On this particular day I was lucky. The gate closes in sections and the check-in clerk motioned me to come on in after only the first section had been rolled into place. Original photo is <here>
