Concrete blocks designed to line steep slopes along roadways, in the hopes of preventing road closures and accidents due to mudslides and landslides. The surface that would normally face outward is down on the ground here, and the part that is visible is the "anchor" portion that goes into the hillside.

What detail for slope protection. Does it work well? I would love to see the whole landscape...just out of curiosity.

@Jen: That was actually just the place where the tiles are stored after being manufactured. It's right behind a warehouse where I sometimes deliver office furniture parts. Next door is a concrete factory that turns out the tiles and some other similar items.
great image. very impressed with tone and flow.

@spherop: Thanks. The original of this image sat around on my hard drive for a while, as I considered it drab and "blah". Post processing helped it out enough to make it worth sharing.
they remind me of tombstones - almost like flanders field - another beautiful image

@Art Monkey: Thanks. I also thought they looked eerily like tombstones. My original thought was to post the image with no commentary or explanation, but I didn't want anyone to be creeped out by thinking they were tombstones.
Great pattern and texture

@Richard_Irwin: Thanks, Richard. Glad you liked it.
Really good tones Mike. Reminds me of the Terracota Warriors in Xiang Shi, China... if they'd all been beheaded.

@Daroru: The image of the warriors did come to mind...but the beheading angle is one I hadn't thought of!
