Actually, this bird is just taking off from a small river after having spent a few minutes diving and spearing fish.
I got lots of different impressions from this image:
1. Fighter plane coming in low to strafe the ducks.
2. Plane coming in for a landing on the USS Mallard. (The angles resemble carrier landings).
3. A laughing face. (The ducks are the eyes. The large bird and his reflection form the lips.)

@Dan: Thanks, Dan. The colors were actually very, very close to reality. The late evening sun was doing weird things with the water. And the composition was a total surprise. I was photographing the bird with a fish he had caught, when he suddenly recalled a previous engagement and took off. I just followed and snapped as best I could, hoping to get something before he got unacceptably out of focus. (Was using manual lens, as always).
I was hit by your first impression. I thought to myself, "It's a bombing run. He's about to take out those mallards!"
