MarginalizedPosted by Mike Cash (Kiryu, Japan) on 28 April 2007 in Lifestyle & Culture. Even though it sometimes seems as though every Japanese male smokes, Japanese workplaces have over the last decade or so increasingly become non-smoking environments, with smokers being forced either to breakrooms, designated areas with ventilation to the outside, or a move to the great outdoors altogether. The constant blue haze that used to be commonplace in many Japanese offices has largely become a thing of the past, most particularly if there are any women present.
