Flat Rack StackPosted by Mike Cash (Kiryu, Japan) on 24 May 2007 in Transportation and Portfolio. Sounds like something out of a Dr. Seuss book, doesn't it? Just a stack of intermodal shipping flatbed racks. They're used for loading oversized items or things that would be too difficult to load/unload with a standard box container. Here the end boards are folded down to allow for compact storage. Otherwise each of them would be taking up about 9 feet of vertical space.
