@kairospix: Thank you! That Velvia is certainly a fine film, alright. And scans really don't do justice to the full rich beauty in the original slides. The scans lose a bit of lustre that has to be put back in with gentle post-processing. Just a little curve tweaking and a moderate amount of saturation boost. Not to modify the image, so much, but to get it back resembling the original slide.

They say it causes an undesirable reddish cast with human skin. So far I've only taken one photo of a person with it, and I had a hard time adjusting the colors. Tomorrow's photo is a black and white rendition of a coworker portrait shot with the Velvia 50.
