Simple Elegance

Posted by Mike Cash (Kiryu, Japan) on 4 July 2007 in People & Portraits and Portfolio.

As I was sitting at Honmoku Wharf, cooling my heels and waiting for Customs to clear a container of Colombian coffee beans, lunchtime rolled around and several box lunch vendors began setting up stands along the roadside. They do a good trade selling lunch to drivers stuck in line when the yards close down for lunch break.

This young lady started setting up a stand about 30 feet in front of my truck, and I amused myself by photographing the process. She was such a good looking gal that I couldn't help but try to isolate a portrait from at least one of the shots. Fortunately, this is one of those rare cases when I should actually be able to find the subject of the photo again someday, so I will make a nice print and give it to her the next time I run across her.

Very substantially altered from the original photo.
