A Looming Presence

Posted by Mike Cash (Kiryu, Japan) on 10 October 2007 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

The town I live in has a long history in the textile and weaving industry and one of the old factories has been converted to a museum. I went there yesterday to practice off-camera and multi-flash photography.

In this photo, one of the staff demonstrates the use of "flying shuttle" technology from about 1783.

Done with two flashes. One fired by radio remote control and the other an optical slave.
