Answer the Phone

Intercom at Tokyo Customs truck x-ray facility at Jounanjima. Trucks are driven into the facility and then dragged through the x-ray chamber by machinery which clamps onto the front wheels and lifts the front end up just a bit off the ground. Meanwhile, the driver is buzzed into a long corridor which goes around the x-ray chamber and leads to a bench where the driver waits for his truck to be dragged out of the x-ray chamber. Then he is buzzed out, gets in the truck, and goes to wait for the results of the inspection.

Since the trucks are examined one at a time there are at most two people in this long corridor at any given time: the driver waiting to get out and one just coming in. The majority of the waiting time is spent all alone....just you and whoever is watching the multiple video surveillance cameras that line the corridor.

Near the exit is this intercom, together with a note requesting drivers to pick up the receiver if the intercom rings. Darned nice of them to include the remote control for the heating/cooling.
