Very Convincing ImitationPosted by Mike Cash (Kiryu, Japan) on 15 October 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. I stopped my car up in the mountains to take some photos of a small roadside Shinto shrine and when I came back I noticed that I had an unusual twig stuck to my front wheel. It actually had me wondering how I had managed to run over something like that and not crush it. After a couple of seconds it dawned on me that I was looking at a stick insect which had jumped on my tire after I had parked the car. It was very easy to photograph him, since their reaction to any sense of impending danger is to try just that much harder to pretend they are a stick. Yes, I had to lie down in the road to take this picture. Yes, I'm an idiot. Pentax K20D
