Posted by Mike Cash (Kiryu, Japan) on 12 February 2009 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

This large wheel, driven by a leather belt, is part of an antique machine used to impart a twist to silk thread. A large number of cords surround the circumference of the wheel and each drops down to drive a single spindle of thread. On display at the Kiryu Textile Museum.
