Internal view of the controller for creating punch cards for the operation of Jacquard looms. (See last Thursday's photo). Each button, when pressed, locks a rod into position and causes it to punch a hole when the foot treadle lowers the punching block. Rods not blocked by a button ride freely atop the cardboard.
