Hedging Their BetsPosted by Mike Cash (Kiryu, Japan) on 14 April 2009 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio. I spotted this scene on a photo walk not far from my home and immediately burst into laughter. The black sign on the left is a Christian warning that on the last day everyone must stand before God (to be judged). Signs with this message or similar Christian messages are, surprisingly, rather common in Japan given the relatively small proportion of Christians. The sign on the right is a political poster for the Komeito Party, which is the political wing of the Soka Gakkai (SGI), a Buddhist group. 1962 Pentax SV
