his young man is quite obviously a self-starter.

He was stopped along Tokyo's Mejiro-dori and hopping up and down on that kick starter like he was possessed by demons. It was a long red light and I watched him for quite a little while. With ｔhe energy he expended trying to get the bike started he could have walked to his destination.
