It's a crying shame the young lady walked by and spoiled an otherwise good photo. Yes, modern man does owe a very large debt of gratitude to our unsung heroes, the civil engineers who have done so much to improve sanitary conditions. It has been said that a good dog is only three missed meals from being a wolf and I think it is safe to say that for mankind only a few good sewers separate us from the savages. We really are indebted to the engineers.
