Two O'Clock in the Morning

Posted by
Mike Cash (Kiryu, Japan) on 14 January 2011 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

A nice little waterfall known as 不動滝 (fudoutaki) located near Kusaki Dam in rural Gunma Prefecture. Lots of people have taken this exact same photo from this exact same spot. But I don't think they've done it in the rain at two a.m.

Twelve minute exposure.

Hard to see at this size and resolution, but how did the camera handle the noise after this pretty long exposure Mike?
My Pentax is a bit older, and unless I'm doing something wrong, it suffers badly with long night exposures. I use Noiseware, but even then it isn't perfect.
What were you doing out at a waterfall in the middle of the night anyway?

@Curly: Due to the strong winds blurring things around noise wasn't much of an issue. I used Noiseware to take care of it. Although I plan to upgrade to a K5 for the improved noise handling later on this year, the K20D doesn't do too bad a job.
